Hello, I'm Sarah
My name is Sarah Jamieson. I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist at Newcastle University in 2008. I initially worked with preschool children, then moved into supporting school aged children who have autism in the North East of England. I set up Communigate Autism in 2016 to provide holistic individualised support for children who have communication needs.
I have experience of working in mainstream and specialist schools supporting children and young people with autism, as well as delivering training and support packages for parents, health and education professionals. I am skilled and experienced in assessing speech, language and communication needs through observation and undertaking formal standardised assessments. I was a research therapist for Paediatric Autism Communication Therapy -Generalised (PACT-G) a national autism randomised control trial. I continue to work part time within the NHS in a second opinion autism assessment team. Additionally I am part of an experienced multidisciplinary team at Autism North East providing NICE compliant autism diagnostic assessments and post-diagnostic support for children and adults.
I have attended extensive specialist training, including Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Social Communication Emotional Regulation Transactional Support (SCERTS), Paediatric Autism Communication Therapy (PACT), National Autistic Society Early Bird Plus, Hanen, Makaton, Social Stories, Talkabout Social Skills, Lego Based therapy, Intensive Interaction, and Children's Mental Health Modules. In 2018 I completed a masters degree in autism with distinction from Northumbria University. I now share my knowledge as a visiting lecturer on Northumbria University's autism masters course.
